RAMBLINGS: ASHLINA KAPOSTA

Along the road of my career and travels, I've been extremely fortunate to meet and work with an array of incredibly talented people. Ramblings is my way of picking their brain for more insight and juicy tidbits to share with you.

This week's Ramblings is with a lovely new friend of mine, Ashlina, aka The Decorista. I've been a fan of her blog for sometime now so it has been wonderful getting to know her a bit better and sharing our projects and inspiration with one another.

A little more about Ashlina, in her own words:
A Texas girl now living in sunny Los Angeles, California. I love Jesus! I dream of designing hotels + movie sets and writing books about it. I also dream of teaching art to kids. For now, I am putting my interior design degree to work at a fabulous art gallery in Beverly Hills. When I'm not at work I am vintage shopping + taking on decor clients. I am doing my best to make it a business. ITS WHAT I LOVE TO DO! I love redecorating my apartment to fit my mood. Hence, thedecorista.com!

What is your greatest extravagance?
Travel! I absolutely love to travel and love spending my hard earned money on enjoying different cultures and history. I love everything about it, packing, flying, roaming, treasure hunting, relaxing, conversation and happy memories.

What career would you pursue if you weren’t doing what you do now?
I honestly don't think there is a job in the world I would rather do than decorating. Maybe writing about design for a magazine, and traveling to see hotels and the designs all over the world and doing a tv show about it....I love design and treasure hunting!

Which living person do you most admire?
I really admire Jaime Rummerfield of Woodson and Rummerfield: House of Design. Everywhere she goes, she looks very put together and polished, much like how my grandmother is. There is something to be said for a woman who never leaves the house without dressing well. I so admire women who take pride in the way they look.

What three things can’t you live without?
I will not go a day without my gold cross necklace (it represents my faith), my puppy Sophie Rose and great smelling perfume (I am always happy with beautiful smelling goodness all around me.)

What is your guilty pleasure?
Starbucks iced coffee, I feel so bad that I drink it so much but I just loooooove it!

What is your favorite color combination?
At the moment.....cream, lavender and jade

What is the favorite room in your house and why?
My bedroom, because its perfectly me! it has pieces that I love all over and it makes me smile from ear to ear because of all the things that I treasure! other people would probably be overwhelmed with all of the things I have collected but I just love it.

What is the most memorable event you’ve attended and why?

Loved ones weddings! I love watching the people that I love get married, its so intimate, special and beautiful...not to mention, I love to see the decor.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

That my most favorite book is the Bible, I read it everyday. If you want to learn how to be graceful, have manners and inner beauty, it's the ultimate guide!

What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who don't smile. I just don't get it.

So great to learn more about Ashlina! She has a great eye and I know we will see much more from her soon. I think a magazine should scoop her up now!
