ON A PERSONAL NOTE
It's been almost two months since I've moved to New York, and it has been an interesting experience on so many levels. I had no idea how much personal growth I would be faced with by moving here. When I decided to leave Seattle the people closest to me felt that I was making a quick decision, and in hindsight maybe I was. But, when I got here what I realized was that although I had a strong career I had so many personal battles to fight - finding a balance between building a brand and taking care of myself (my health, my spirit, my heart, etc.). If I had stayed in Seattle I may have continued to fight those battles, trying to be everything to everyone, flying back and forth to work locally and nationally, it was too much.
One of the forms of art that I happen to love is dance. I was a dancer for 12 years, one regret that I have is that I quit, and I hope to get in shape one day and dance for fun again some day. One night I was flipping through the channels and happen to see this performance, and it moved me so deeply, it is about addiction.
I think it expresses the struggle of addiction so well, and it hit me that addiction is so much more than what we typically think of it to be, i.e. drugs and alcohol. You can be addicted to a cycle in the way that you live your life or feel about yourself. Think about what is holding you back - a dead end job, a bad relationship, self-sabotage through over-eating or over-spending, self doubt?

Sometimes the only way to break that cycle and find yourself is to make the leap and find your wings on the way down. That's what I'm doing. It takes a lot of work, and a ton of sacrifice, but I'm guessing that in the end I'm going to be stronger for it.

ON THE AIR & OFF THE AIR - DOING WHAT I LOVE - JOIN ME
Today I will be running around putting the finishing touches on a segment for the Today Show that will air at some point in the show tomorrow.
My next big project is to focus on Brimfield. I have partnered with Brian Kelsey again, from Martha Stewart Radio and Kelsey on the House, and we are working with fabulous partners. If you haven't seen our promo video, you don't want to miss it for Brian's rock and roll dance moves alone:
We are in the process of working on the project ideas for the presentations we will be doing at Brimfield, and I am so excited to dig into the planning after the Today Show segment is locked and loaded. An event where there is shopping, massage, signature cocktails, and a ton of my blogger friends = fabulous madness of course.
Now, what will I wear? September in Massachusetts may call for a new pair of wellies!
I'm talking dorm rooms. If you have kids going to college, or you are a student, tune in for a few tips and some great product suggestions too. I may have to keep a few of the products for my adult "dorm" room. I will be posting the link to the segment so if you miss it check back on the blog Thursday. I'll include links to the products too!

A MESSAGE FROM THE EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM....
Or, at least a quick break from the glittery, sparkly, things that I usually write about and love. I just joined Pinterest, I know late to the party, but I came across this and it struck me...
I had to stop and read it a few times, and it made me laugh because I had never thought about crying in that way. I have always seen crying as being "emotional" and as a sign of weakness. But, when you look at it this way, It's true when you are born the sign that you have arrived into the world is the sound of your loud and vibrant cry.
Since I was a little girl I have always been a very passionate person. Sometimes so passionate, it hurts. I feel others pain, I get teary when I see something beautiful, and I have always been someone that feels things very deeply, and experiences emotions to the fullest. Exhausting yes, but as I think about it I know in my heart I wouldn't want to live any other way.
With this new chapter in my life there is one thing I know - I am alive - over the past few months I have loved and lost, moved away from all that is familiar, examined my future, and took a leap of faith to follow my dream, and yes many tears have been shed. But, reading these two sentences remind me that my passion and tears have taken me to some pretty amazing places in life and allowed me to form deep relationships with some amazing people.
So, if you are one of those "emotional" people - embrace it and know that you are truly feeling and experiencing all that life has to offer in a deep and meaningful way. That doesn't mean it will always be easy, but I have a feeling that the experiences, tears, and yes sometimes heartache will be worth it.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming...
Since I haven't done much in NYC outside of unpack and work, this weekend I think I'll put together a charming picnic in Central Park...
Who wants to join?
